She's always been the black sheep of the family, though– her siblings are both much more what one thinks of as proper purebloods, tending to be fairly reserved and cool. Daphne is much more bubbly and outgoing, which led to conflicts with her family at times, though they rarely lasted long– Daphne is difficult to stay angry at. In school, she made friends easily, both in Slytherin and outside it. She (as well as the rest of the family) largely kept their heads down in the war; her parents and elder brother certainly tended to be sympathetic with the cause of pureblood superiority, but they didn't want anything to do with the violence. They were lucky; their family was largely untouched by the conflict.

Personality: Daphne is a ball of energy, nearly always in high spirits– truth be told, she can be a bit exhausting to be around at times. She's bouncy and talkative and playful, difficult not to like, and can carry on a conversation with just about anyone. A shameless charmer and irrepressible flirt, Daphne likes attention, and she can be prone to melodramatic displays at times. She's actually a fairly honest person, even to the point of bluntness, and she's not particularly subtle: manipulation, from Daphne, is mostly in the form of her being difficult to say no to. Essentially, Daphne is a very sweet person and loyal friend with a nurturing, caring personality, and she's social and happiest with other people. She doesn't come off at all as a typical Slytherin (and in point of fact the hat did consider placing her in Hufflepuff), but she does have a driving ambition, always: Daphne wants, more than anything, to love and be loved by those around her.

Daphne actually is much more easily hurt than one might think, though she's good at hiding it and generally she gets along with people too well for them to be inclined to be mean to her. When she's upset about something, she won't show it publicly, but she'll spend more time on her own, quietly subdued. Mostly this gets caused by rejection, either real or imagined– Daphne likes being needed and wanted, and it stings if her help or company is turned down. (The circumstances surrounding it do make a difference to how she reacts, though).

It's rare for her to get genuinely angry, but when she does, it's generally explosively so, though it blows over fairly quickly, and she forgives fairly easily– though sometimes she'll feign resistance to make the point that the other person was wrong.

Appearance: Daphne is on the short side of average hight and a slender build. She has a find-boned, youthful face with brown eyes and ash blonde hair that she keeps cropped in a short, spiky cut. Her style of dress is generally fairly casual but flattering.
PB: Alison Lohman

Better to have dreamed, than never taken the fall.
